For those of you that are new to Maplewood I just want to take time to welcome you and for those of you that are returning, welcome back. This year expectations are high and we have a lot of work ahead of us. We as educators are going to ask a lot of your child and that just makes them a more well rounded individual. I am going to send an outline home of what is required for us to teach your child. This will be handed out on Sept. 2nd. I also will have a link this year for the physical education participation grade slip that is used in my Phy. ed classes. For those of you who are new, this is a grading slip that is required to be signed by a parent or guardian on a consistent basis. We have units that last about 12 days and this form is supposed to be signed twice during the unit. Midway through the unit and at the end of the unit. The end of the unit percent that you will see on the slip is the final participation grade for that unit. The percent per trimester is based on how much physical education we have compared to health class. The first trimester looks to be about 8 weeks of physical education compared to 2 weeks of health. The physical education participation grade very well may be 70% of your childs grade for first trimester. There is a health participation grade slip that is called character counts that will also be used during health. As of now it is looking like health participation could be about 15% of this trimester with written work and tests making up the last 15%. Thank you for taking the time to use webaloo and I will try to keep it updated as much as possible. The link to the physical education participation grade slip if your child looses it is PE Grade Slip Expectations.doc and participation grade sheet[1].doc
