In math, we have concluded our review of rote math skills and working on money skills (making random money amounts and making change). We will revisit these skills periodically throughout the year to check for retention. For December and part of January, we will work on budgeting. We will be using the textbook Mathematics for Consumers, and specifically Chapter 9 "Budgeting Your Money" and Chapter 10 "Banking and Investing". We will also be using a book from the AGS series called "Learning to Budget." Our next unit will be and Banking and how to use a checking account.
In Social Studies, our focus for December is to conclude our studies of U.S. History. While working on our history studies, we are concurrently working on social skills such as large and small group work, interpersonal skills and friendships skills.
In Science, we have been studying human body systems. Our first unit was the Digestive system. We discussed the organs included in this system, and their functions. We are currently studying the Circulatory system and again, the different organs and their functions. Our next unit will be the Reproductive system. The Reproductive system test will conclude this unit and a new unit will be started about Christmas break.
