READING COUNTS

The Reading Counts book list has over 1000 different titles from which students may choose to satisfy the reading requirement in their classes.  Students should be familiar with the expectations that their teacher have regarding the books they choose.   Some teachers have a page number minimum, others have a lexile range within which the student must stay when selecting a book, while other students may not have been informed of their lexile level at all.  Whatever the case, the responsibility does fall upon the student to know class expectations regarding this program.

The books on the list may be found in our school library, public library, home library, etc. The point is to find a book that appeals to the reader, read it, and prove their understanding of the book by taking a ten question quiz on it. Quizzes are taken at school. Generally, there are a number of books or points each student must read or earn by the end of each quarter.

We hope this list is a useful tool for you.

Good luck and Happy Reading!

The more you learn, the more places you'll go."
